Veterans were proudly displaying their service medals and a very rare 1941 Army Utility vehicle (known as a Tilly) was on show too. Community champion Alyce had arranged a buffet and refreshments in Tesco’s community room afterwards where we got the opportunity to chat more to Forces personnel, long serving British Legion members and 95 year old RAF veteran Vic Basham, which reminded us what the annual poppy appeal is all about.
Warren Access Ltd were delighted to be part of this year’s Huntingdon launch event for the Poppy Appeal, held at Tesco Store, Huntingdon. Representatives from The local British Legion, War Veterans, Army and RAF personnel, the Mayor of Huntingdon, Tesco staff, Guides and various volunteers and representatives from the community were all in attendance.
Richard from Warren Access manned our 20m truck which we were happy to provide free of charge, putting 2 young soldiers from Bury St Edmunds barracks up in the bucket to scatter poppy petals above the volunteers. Gordon Gemmel controlled the launch and photo shoot perfectly with everything going to plan except the uncontrollable wind trying to take the poppies in a different direction!
